Past Projects

CoPALM’s Marijuana Committee was specifically created to focus on the efforts of preventing marijuana use among minors. The committee strives to increase these efforts by providing education to the diverse community and through policy advocacy. The Marijuana Committee is currently working with many community organizations. COPALM's Marijuana Committee has been responsible for

  • Collecting surveys
  • Evaluations for data mapping
  • Conducting research on community assessments for Marijuana use in the Pico-Union and Westlake areas
  • uses an “environmental” approach to substance abuse prevention 
  • Our community organizers work with youth, parents, and the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) by providing prevention education workshops.
  • These workshops increase alcohol and other drug knowledge, as well as develop open communication between youth and parents.

  • KYCC and CoPALM Host First Cannabis Educational Forum

The Marijuana Committee meets monthly on the last Monday of the month from 10am-11am via Zoom Video Conference due to the Mayor's Safer-at-Home Order for COVID-19
