Rise Up, Speak Out: A Youth Art Showcase

Creative expression is one of CoPALM's core values. Promoting protective factors, like creativity and self-confidence, is an effective strategy in fostering resilient people and resilient communities. With Rise  Up, Speak Out, CoPALM aims to engage youth in artistic and positive activities, while raising awareness on social issues such as peer and media pressure, oppression, violence, and substance use/abuse.

On June 14, 2017, CoPALM held it's first "Rise Up, Speak Out," a youth storytelling night and art show. The event showcased the creativity of young artists and storytellers ages 13 to 19. The youth storytellers recounted their experiences of hardship, trauma, and perseverance with the audience, while our artists showcased their art under the theme of resiliency.

Now, in it's fourth year, the event is bringing together many more artists and performers to not only showcase their creative talents, but also build community resiliency through artistic expression.

Rise Up, Speak Out creates a space for young people to come together, heal together, and build community.
